Change the day

Today commemorates a dark day in Australian history. While those unaffected celebrate the pride of a nation, others endure a reminder of the pains of times past. Australia’s history (and current times) drips with that of the disrespect and disenfranchisement of the traditional custodians of this great land, and today signifies a sign of this bitter contempt. The pain of 26th January still reigns real in the hearts of my fellow humans and like many others I’d like to celebrate a greater future, rather than a heinous history.

Despite it’s inconsistencies, Australia is the home to so many beautiful people, but in order to move forward; unconditional inclusivity is the key. If you want to celebrate the triumphs of a nation, lets not exclusively save the celebrations for those that had the privilege to not experience such horrific monstrosities.

I hit 20,000 likes, wow!

I am really overwhelmed by all the fans that have supported me over the past few years. I can’t believe that there are 20,000 of you now. Photography has granted me so many amazing opportunities; most of all it’s allowed me to share the things that are most personal to me. I’ve got some big things planned for this year and I’m pretty siked to show you guys. But right now, I’d like to take the opportunity to talk about another photographer.

I’d like to dedicate this little achievement to Rubee Crooks, a young photographer I’ve been mentoring over the past year. Rubee and I have been through a lot together and at only 18 years old her strength and determination is inspiring. She has been my little sidekick on many photography expeditions and it’s cool to shoot beside someone that is as passionate about photography as me (I didn’t teach her that). She takes risks and will do absolutely anything to get the right shot (no matter the cost), which in my opinion are the makings of a great photographer. Rubee has only been shooting for a short while and her progress never ceases to blow me away, her photo’s are something that reflects the future of a bright young artist.

I asked her to draw something to commemorate 20,000 of you liking my page and she knocked out this rad illustration in a matter of days. It is a celebration of all the places I’ve been able to shoot in over the past few years.

You are inspiring homie, I wish you success for now are beyond.
